If you have an itchy, spreading rash with red, purple, or bluish lesions, do not just consider them common symptoms. You may have lichen planus. A condition that we are all not aware of.

This disease is triggered by the immune system's reaction to allergens, stress or viral infections. Skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes can all be impacted by lichen planus, an autoimmune condition.

On the skin, lichen planus typically appears as small, flat-topped lesions that may itch on the wrists and other flexural movement-prone places. It may have an impact on the lips, genitalia, scalp, and nails. Mild to severe discomfort is possible.

There could be a number of contributing elements, and every case of lichen planus is different. Although it could be uncomfortable, lichen planus is not always a serious condition. A few rare types of this illness can be painful and dangerous.

Lichen planus cannot be transmitted to others, including in sexual relationships, as it is not contagious and rarely runs in families.
